I came in like a hedgehog… or maybe like a tiny dog

I already referenced Miley once this week. I hope you’ll forgive me for doing it again.

(I can’t help it – I cannot seem to get “Wrecking Ball” out of my head, no matter how hard I try. That damn song is everywhere. So, if I can’t get it out of my head, I thought I’d put it into yours. Either there is an minimum number of brains that must be infected with the song at any given time, and I can get out by finding a replacement… or at least I’ll have you for company. It’s win-win.)

Anyway, I hope you’ll enjoy today’s videos enough to overlook my nefarious earworm plan. I couldn’t choose a favorite, so you get two videos. First up, the hedgehog:

Then, a tiny dog:

While I’m at it, this is kind of genius.

Once more, for good measure…

That concludes today’s installment of Thing I Wish I Could Get Out of My Head But Can’t. See you next time!

Adopt your very own unicorn…

…or, you know, a dog named Unicorn. But you can call her Corny. (I can relate. I’m pretty corny myself.)

In any event, the following video is rated U for Unicorn.

I didn’t quite get the weird dude at the end, but what can you do? It’s not like I’ve gone out and made my own parody adoption video, after all. He’s still coming out ahead of Sarah McLachlan. Humor always wins over soul-crushing depression.

Speaking of unicorns, I wish that Corny had rocked a unicorn costume somewhere in there. Thank goodness that my other favorite Bella has anticipated my needs. She knew what I needed before I even knew myself.

Also, speaking of being corny… thanks to those of you who totally appreciate my special brand of rambling nonsense. To you I say…

Hope you had a great Halloween… I’m off to celebrate by watching a few of my favorite specials! (The dogs are not in costume, but they’ll more than make up for that at our Christmas card shoot.) Unicorn wishes and rainbow dreams, my friends…

Kittens are doin’ it for themselves

Today… feels like a cat day.

  1. First up, your punny pet name: Meowucci Prada.
  2. Can we discuss how much Iove it when cats have titles added to their names? You know, like Colonel Meow or Captain Pancakes.
  3. Speaking of punny goodness, this site takes song lyrics and changes them to be about cats. I think I’ve found my soulblog.
  4. Um, this proposal is certifiably adorable.
  5. Cats – what can’t they do? I mean, seriously. They can keep your head warm or make your day better. They’re models and style icons, gracing the covers of magazines. They’re even in politics.
  6. Oh, and did I mention that they’d be your eyes when you couldn’t see?
  7. This photo reminds me that as long as there have been pets, there have been pet lovers. (I can’t even. Just… awwww.)
  8. Any London cat lovers here? If so, add “visit the cat cafe” on your to do list. If you’re in Canada, you could check out a cat playground instead.

Cats – they’re just like us!

In case you missed it, here’s what we were up to on the blog this week:

Today’s post has been brought to you by the letter C and the number 2 (for Cute Cats). But… don’t forget to watch your back, okay?

Please don’t stop the music…

It’s Friday, which means it’s time for your weekly (except when I’m being a slacker) dose of linky goodness:

  1. First up, this week’s punny pet names: Flea-ba McEntire and Justin Timbersnake. (Bonus pun: I want to hang a sign like this one in my house.)
  2. Sometimes I just want to take the midnight train going anywhere, don’t you?
  3. Maybe that’s how these cats got to Dream Town.
  4. On an unrelated note, I would totally buy tickets to see Downton Abbey’s boy band. (I think they might even outsell ‘N Sync.)
  5. As you can see, I’ve got music on the mind today. Enjoy this clip of Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs stealing my heart for the millionth time.
  6. I love animal odd couples – and as a bonus, this Corgibun story even comes with a musically inspired title. (Corgibuns is now the name of my hypothetical pet-friendly bakery.)
  7. Dogs know how to rock out.
  8. Did you happen to see Stephen Colbert’s “Get Lucky” video? If this clip doesn’t make you smile, I’m not sure I want to know you.

Speaking of songs that I couldn’t escape this summer…

Sorry… I couldn’t resist.

Anyway, for all of your music-related needs, I highly recommend that you visit Wesley Ryan’s Music Hub. This blog is written by a dear friend of mine, who has been my musical guru for years. (He also shares my love of misheard lyrics, things that make it rain on my facepop culture, and… well, everything really.)

That’s all folks… happy Friday!

Wag Libs: If I [blank], feed [blank]

You may already know that I’m a compulsive lyric changer. I adore song parodies. Changing songs has become my own melodic version of Mad Libs.

(Speaking of, how great are Mad Libs?)

Bella Libs: I Still Want More Puppies

Bella is not a fan.

With that in mind, I thought we’d play a little game of Wag Libs today. Tap your inner lyric changer and play along! Continue reading

A night at the Pupsbury

I’m in a musical mood this week. On Sunday, I had the pleasure of seeing Tristan Prettyman and Anya Marina in concert. Are you a fan? You should be. For real. (They each have many fantastic songs, but one treat we got at the live show was the two of them taking the stage together to sing this funny song about Lindsey Lohan. It’s been stuck in my head ever since, along with many of the other tunes.)

My friend M is a fan, and she got me addicted. Now it’s my turn to pass that addiction on to you. Use it wisely.

Anyway, in spite of the fact that we set the clocks forward an hour and I’m still adjusting to the schedule change, I’ve been feeling pretty good this week. (As an aside, I love Daylight Savings time and welcome it with open arms. I wish that we just stayed on DST all year.) I think it’s because I’ve been starting each morning off with fantastic tunes. Music soothes the savage beast, right? I guess it soothes me too.

Although the video below does not contain one of the songs I use to pump myself up in the morning, it’s possible that I do look something like this dog to colleagues who happen to pass by my door in the early morning hours…

If that song is now stuck in your head, I apologize. Go discover some new Tristan and Anya tunes instead. (See, I’m such a pusher!)

Hark! The Puppies are Playing

Today, I have yet another caroldy (and an adorable video) for you. Enjoy!

Hark! The Puppies are Playing

Hark! The puppies are playing,
With balls and other squeaky things!
Fuzzy puppies running wild,
Bring joy to each adult and child.
Playful, all these puppies try
To unwrap the gifts that you did buy.
Undaunted they will try again,
Until your Christmas feasting ends.
Hark! the puppies are playing,
Their cuteness will make your heart sing.
