Clan of the Cave Dog, part 2

On Monday, I treated you to a rare glimpse of the elusive Cave Dog (complete with nature show commentary). Today, I share a few additional shots of this fascinating creature courtesy of our mobile Cave Dog tracking unit…
When necessary, the Cave Dog will construct a makeshift cave using available resources.

The Cave Dog imitates other animals (such as the tortoise) to avoid suspicion.

Highly adaptable, the Cave Dog has even learned how to make its cave portable.

However, as you can see, the Cave Dog is not a stealthy beast.

  1. The cave almost looks part turtle! It's very cool he or she can carry a whole cave while embarking upon such adventures! A strong animal indeed.

  2. Those are some super man caves. We especially like the one that travels. And the one with the spare animal under it with you. Great pictures. Hope all of you have a fantastic day.

  3. Very interesting. I've never had a dog that hid anywhere or under things. What adorable pics of the Cave Dog Bella!!

  4. This really makes me laugh, especially the portable cave! We always have to be very careful where we sit – if there's a lump it's usually Poppet! Just wanted to show you this :Dhttp://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150314883955907&set=a.10150314883815907.383761.340733630906&type=1&theater

  5. Hound Girl – I'm not sure how one finds a Cave Dog… I just lucked into mine! 🙂

Kristine – I think the portable cave is my favorite.

Marg – maybe the spare animal is under there to fool any intruders!

Pamela – Very true… Cave Dogs know how to avoid the sun when needed!

Amy – Perhaps there are a few different breeds of Cave Dog out there!

24 Paws of Love – that's been Bella's MO ever since we adopted her.

Edie – Glad to hear it. 🙂 I was giggling to myself when writing part 1 on Monday too.

cate – that is too funny!

  6. We have a "cave dog" in our house too! He's black and he likes to inhabit areas under chairs and beds… I wonder if I can get as awesome photos as yours?

  7. Man, I could use one of those portable caves. And is that a platypus friend?! I'd definitely like one of those!

Hope you had a cavetastic Wednesday Bella!

  8. Caren – I hadn't thought about it that way, but you have a point! 🙂

KB and Kristin G – I look forward to your future nature special on your very own Cave Dog! (Bella likes chairs too – at times, I've had to be very careful not to squish her!)

chandra – It is indeed a platypus friend. She came complete with extra squeaky eggs too. Odd, but cute.

Miss Kodee – So true… I could see Bella building a couch fort. I think I have a photo of her sleeping under a fort made of moving boxes actually…

  9. It is wonderful you have capture shots. Our cave dwellers have an ability to sense the Paparazi and avoid most attempts to be caught on camera.

  10. The Cave Dog is pretty clever alright! Kelly likes to sleep on the floor with just her head under the bed!

  11. Bailey – some breeds of Cave Dog are more reclusive than others…

Karen – Perhaps there's a secret Cave Dog network we don't know about.

Peggy – Kelly sounds like the rare Inverse Cave Dog. 🙂
