Happy Halloween from the Cone Ranger

When she’s not being a flashlight, I like to think that Bella is dressed in costume as the Cone Ranger.  Accordingly, here’s a video of her in “costume” for your Halloween enjoyment (especially since I already shared my favorite Halloween song on Saturday).  I’d recommend watching this one with the sound on to get the full benefit of the soundtrack. Poor Cone Ranger – life on Coney Island is full of challenges.

Hi-Yo, Salamander! Away!

Seriously, she was so full of energy last week (when I shot this footage) that her crazy was at an all time high. We’ve managed to institute some “cone breaks” into her schedule, which seems to help.  While supervised, she seems to – mostly – be leaving her incision alone.  She’s still all coned up at night and when home alone, however.  I don’t trust her that much yet.

Hope you have a great Halloween!

  1. Happy Halloween! Glad to hear things with the cone are still going good, hang in there miss bella, she cracks me up on the video

  2. Happy Halloween to all of you. Hopefully that cone will come off soon. You are good girl to put up with it. Hope you lots of treats and no tricks.

  3. Cool that she's so full of determination even with the cone–some dogs just curl up in a closet like their lives are over. Glad they have those flexi-cones thee days–such an improvement over the big old plastic things!

  4. Hound Girl – I think she's lost her patience with the cone at this point. She had it off most of the weekend (while supervised) and was very unhappy when she had to put it back on.

Marg – We go back to the vet on Friday, so I'm hoping she'll be out of it soon.

Kirsten – She has so much energy! She has her mopey moments too, but she's hanging in there.

  5. poor Bella!! Ohhhhh….I wanted to laugh, then I felt so guilty for laughing!

I have to say that is one of the BIGGEST cones I have ever seen! The poor baby!! I hope she doesn't have to have it on too much longer.

happy halloween and special kisses for Bella!

  6. Woof! Woof! Oh hang-in there with the CONE!!! Happy Halloween. Have a safe FUN Howl-o-ween! Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar

  7. When Bella barks, does it echo?

I hope the vet gives the ok to toss the cone on Friday. You'll be happy to have cheerful Bella back, I'm sure.

  8. Poor Bella. She must be looking forward to getting that cone off so she can get some real playtime in. Hugs and happy halloweens from my Bella to yours.

(PS – Dig the tunes. πŸ™‚

  9. Oh, poor Bella! I think you should just be glad that they didn't try to make a feather duster out of you with that thing! *snicker*

  10. Caren – Bella says thanks for the special kisses. πŸ™‚

Dan – She is pretty cute in it somehow!

Pamela – It actually sounds kind of like she's using a megaphone. At night when she snores it's amplified throughout the entire room!

houndstooth – Hmmm… perhaps I should attach a feather duster to the end so she can get some cleaning done. πŸ™‚

Amy – We go back to the vet on Friday. I'm hoping that the stitches come out then and that we can do away with the cone.

Thanks everyone for the Halloween and get well wishes!

  11. I'm sorry but I had to laugh:( Bella looked so frustrated. I hope she gets rid of the cone tomorrow and can deal to those toys properly!
