Even a miracle needs a hand…

Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, it’s okay to start posting about Christmas, right? I’m not going to lie – it’s one of my favorite times of the year.

Today, I was thinking about challenges and how sometimes wonderful things don’t just happen – that sometimes you have to help them along. (I think Bella and Tavish take this approach to meals – why wait for me to prepare dinner when you can speed things along by doing a food dance? Lucky me – dinner and a show!)

Anyway, it seems like the perfect day to share a song from one of my favorite Christmas specials. Such wise cartoons we had back in the day…

Talk about a lesson I wish I could remember all year long – whether it’s a change in my own life or something I could do to help someone else’s miracle along, it’s all about action. Just watching the world go by isn’t enough. After all, as a famous man once said, “If you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a change.”  I’m trying, tiny mice, I’m trying…

Also, it’s time to talk about holiday specials again – what are your favorites? You know I love any reason to stroll down Memory Lane. I should really just buy a house there.

  1. HA! I cannot believe that you posted the video to the song that has been playing in my head since I read your post title in my inbox almost an hour ago! Earworm! Earworm! And here I thought I was the only person who ever watched this Christmas special. 😉

I love the holiday season. I love the music, the specials, the decorations, everything about it. Maybe it’s that little child inside me that still wants to believe ‘peace on earth’ could be more than just a catchy phrase.

    • I always worry that I’m the only one who ever watched it too. (Well, me and one of my best friends from when I was five. He gets me.)

I’m with you – I love the holidays.

  2. Gosh, I’ve never seen that one!

I don’t really watch the Christmas specials from my childhood anymore (although I could probably still sing the Heat Miser song and every song from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer). I like to watch things they don’t normally show on TV – but luckily we have the DVDs: the musical version of A Christmas Carol called “Scrooge” is my all-time fave, and my hubby and I LOVE “The Snowman” – a mostly wordless animated BBC short film. Lovely!

  3. I can’t believe you posted this! I love this special. I always wind up watching it on YouTube every year. One of my other favorites is Mickey’s Christmas Carol. I broke down and purchased it on DVD a few years ago.
