The luck o’ the Tavish to you

In spite of the fact that it’s Black & White Sunday, I did consider posting a green photo in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. However, then I remembered that Tavish is a classy guy. He can celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in any format.

He calls this one “leprechaun in an old movie”:

I hope you have a lovely St. Patrick’s Day! I’ll be volunteering with FOHA at the Super Pet Expo. I bet I’ll still find time to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day as befitting my Irish heritage – judging those who can’t seem to hold their alcohol. It’s amateur hour out there.

Erin go bark (or St. Catrick’s Day?)

Obviously, Friday links are a little late. Let’s just call it a Shamrock Saturday instead. After all, given that St. Patrick’s Day is on Sunday, could I choose any other theme?

  1. First up, your punny pet name: Sinead O’Collar.
  2. I’d like to follow that up with a little shameless self-promotion. Looking for a dessert to make this weekend? Try my recipe for Whiskey Beeramisu (aka Irish Tiramisu). That’s right. I don’t mess around.
  3. If that’s not your speed, how about Green Beer Cupcakes or Spotted Dog?
  4. No time? I guess you could just buy a dessert instead.
  5. Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way… can we discuss how weird this Lucky Charms video is? It’s like they want me to have breakfast at a dance club. (Idea: spoons that double as glow sticks. You’re welcome, party kids.)
  6. What are your plans this weekend? Whatever you do, remember to beware the sides of starch.
  7. Speaking of things that rhyme with starch, will you be giving in to March Madness? If basketball’s not your thing, you can always play Animals March Madness instead.
  8. Did you know that Greyhounds have some Irish history?
  9. Enjoy this Corgi limerick! (Also, this next link in no way relates to today’s theme, but I don’t care. The Corgi’s name is Corgnelious. I had no choice.)
  10. If you, like me, enjoy the occasional Shamrock Shake (I allow myself one per year and try not to think about how horrible it is for me), I want to let you in on a little secret. Ask for it half Shamrock, half chocolate. You won’t be sorry. (Allegedly, it’s called the McLeprechaun, but somehow I doubt that my local McDonald’s would have known that if I’d tried to order it that way.)

So, another Friday is upon us.  Let’s get to it.

  2. Self-promotion alert… I finally updated my oft-neglected baking blog.  Even more surprising?  I updated it twice!  Check out my recipes for Green Beer Cupcakes and Spotted Dog.
  3. Speaking of recipes, I want to try this recipe and make my own Shamrock Shakes.  I do not, however, wish to replicate any of these cakes.
  4. Need a smile today?  Then check out this post about dog people.  Trust me.

Best post ever?

I have so much for you today that I won’t waste your time with an intro… on to the cute!

  1. In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, this week’s punny pet names:  Peter O’Drool and Conan O’ Grrrrr-ien.
  2. So how did you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day yesterday?  Was it as cute as this celebration at the zoo?
  3. I love March Madness. (Go George Mason!)  What better way to celebrate its arrival than by combining basketball and adorable animals? 
  4. Not into basketball?  That’s okay – Jezebel is running a Cats vs. Dogs bracket!  Yesterday, the Cheshire Cat triumphed over the Cat in the Hat, while the Pit Bull pulled off an upset over the Chihuahua.  Go check it out, and then keep an eye out for the next voting period!
  5. I don’t want to overplay my hand here, but I seriously think that this collection of 50 photos of Basset Hounds running might be one of the best things ever.  (Bonus installment: Basset Hounds having a Chariots of Fire moment on the beach.  Bonus bonus installment:  After I wrote that sentence, I searched and discovered that someone made a video of a Basset Hound running with a Chariots of Fire soundtrack.  It’s a good day.)

In conclusion, I want to croon the lyrics to Eternal Flame to the following video so that it knows how much I love it. Video, you complete me.
