When it was 2013, I read posts that filled me with cheer…

Well, the new year is here. It’s time to look forward. Unfortunately, I really excel in looking back. I’m often nostalgic for yesterday, not to mention yesteryear. So, in order to truly say farewell to 2013, I needed to get that out of my system. I needed to post December’s monthly roundup, and I needed to do it today.

I hope you don’t mind that this roundup is so close on the heels of the last. (Although perhaps the real problem is that I’m usually at least a month behind with these!) Anyway… today, I have a selection of fourteen posts that made me smile during the last month of the year. Read on and be merry. (It’s cool to be merry in January, right? Let’s take merriment back from December. Merriment for all the months!)

  1. My Dog is a Potterhead from Kol’s Notes – Yet another reason Felix is pure awesome. I’m a total Felix fangirl.
  2. I Am Not Very Good At Trying To Look Like My Cartoon Character from My Brown Newfies – You’ve got to give her credit for trying, though.
  3. 29 More Photos from the Shoot During Which the UPS Man Laughed from The Chronicles of Cardigan – Sometimes, the most challenging part of these roundups is retyping Elizabeth’s post titles. No joke.
  4. An Airing of Grievances: The Dog Snobs Festivus Tradition Begins from The Dog Snobs – I’m a little bothered by the fact that my spell check did not recognize Festivus. Get with it. Oh, and this post is hilarious.
  5. If Dogs Wrote Real Estate Blogs from Something Wagging This Way Comes – Honey should totally offer her services as a home inspector.
  6. The Flamboyant Christmas Jumper – is there any other kind? from under the blanket – I was utterly charmed by the photos in this post.
  7. Sometimes she snuggles… from Bringing Up Bella – Sometimes little gifts are the best. I melt. (Unfortunately, melting during a polar vortex means I probably will then freeze instantly. Worth it.)

  8. I Vacuum My Bathtub (and Other Confessions of a Dog Mom) from Kol’s Notes – At least we’re all a little crazy together.
  9. The dogs of Chuck Norris from The Poodle (and dog) blog – I would like to request future installments, please. Don’t let me down.
  10. Funny Bone Monday, 54 – of Memes and Resolutions from the Jones Natural Chews blog – I lost it when I got to the “I want a new duck” lyrics.
  11. 8 Wonderful Stories from 2013 Featuring Dogs from Grouchy Puppy – I realize it’s a bit meta to include a list in a list, but I couldn’t resist.
  12. Out With The Old from BZ Dogs – Did your dog make a resolution for 2014?
  13. I Should of Wiped It from My Brown Newfies – When photo shoots with Santa go awry, hilarity ensues. (Thanks to Jackie for suggesting this one.)
  14. “Cats Rule, Dogs Drool”… Any Questions? from Cat Chat – Although I can’t agree with the title, the video is cute. (Thanks to Caren for suggesting this one.)

As always, if you read a post that made you smile in December (or would like to make my life easier by suggesting a post for January’s roundup), please share it in the comments. There’s no better feeling than recognizing your fellow bloggers!

(Oh, and did anyone actually get the reference in the post title? If not, allow me to assist you.) (Okay, you caught me. My first thought was of this clip, and THEN I thought of that one. I’m one cultured, classy broad.)

  1. Holy smokes! Thanks so much for including 2 of our posts! This is a great list!

Even though its early in the month I have 2 posts that I really liked this month. 1. How to Move a Large Object by My GBGV Life. http://mygbgvlife.com/2014/01/06/move-a-large-object/
    2. Meeting Maggie- A Pine River puppy Mill Dog by No Dog About It. http://nodogaboutit.wordpress.com/2014/01/02/meeting-maggie-a-pine-river-puppy-mill-dog/

I did not get the reference until after I watched the videos 🙂

  2. Just for the record, I am sooooooo old that actually, I remember the version from the Kingston Trio. (My dad was a musician and some of this stuff got in my system before I was even born. Yeah, yeah, that’s the ticket. 😉

Thank you, as always, for including us in your list today. That was a special post for me – mostly for how it captured a special moment for me and my girl.

Once again I seemed to have missed a few great posts and will head out now to investigate! Thanks so much for putting these lists together to help the chronically obtuse among us. 😉
