Let’s unite for dog rescue!

Blog the ChangeWell, another Blog the Change for Animals event is upon us. This time, however, I didn’t have to agonize over choosing a subject. Instead, I’m joining with several other bloggers to promote a great event happening on Monday, July 23.

What event might that be, you wonder? It’s called Bloggers Unite for Dog Rescue BtC4Animals.com has partnered with Blog Catalog and Dog Rescue Success for a special online global blogging event aimed at bringing attention to dog rescues. As you may know, we recently became a three dog household, and all of our pups are rescue dogs. Accordingly, this cause is very close to my heart.

The only missing ingredient for the upcoming event? You! Join us on July 23 to draw attention to the importance of dog rescues and dog adoption. I hope you’ll spread the word about this great event. For more information about this event (including talking points for a blog post and other ways to participate), visit BtC4Animals.com.

A lot of great bloggers are participating in today’s Blog the Change event – to see what they’re all barking about, check out the list after the jump…

We’ll all look back and think about our friends…

Today, I’m feeling a bit nostalgic. For what, you might ask?

(Actually, it’s more likely that you’re thinking, “Geez. This chick is always nostalgic. I bet she’ll work in a reference to 90210 or some other random show that went off the air decades ago. You know, like Models Inc.Paradise Hotel, or some long-ago season of the Real World/Road Rules Challenge. Does her TV block channels with decent programming?”  Well, imaginary voice in my head – you are so wrong. Oh wait… I guess you were right. Plus, there’s that Saved by the Bell reference in the post title. Speaking of, somehow throughout the process of adding links to my senseless ramblings, I found this blog, and then lost a great amount of time that I am now unable to account for. I have issues.)

(Seriously though, no other Models, Inc. fans out there? Also, I have to confess – my prior shameful addiction to Paradise Hotel has developed into a current shameful addiction to Love in the Wild. Apparently, I have not been cured.)

Moving on… despite that scary glimpse at my internal monologue, this post is not about my questionable viewing habits. Rather, it’s about blogging conferences. I got a little spoiled last year when I attended my first pet blogging conference in my own backyard. (Not literally in my backyard… but a short distance from my home. How weird would it be if I just held a blogging conference in my backyard?)

K9 Kampers Graduate!

The fourth challenge is already here? Kamp’s already over? I would like to protest. “Donna Martin graduates! Donna Martin graduates!

Wait, that’s not right. “Stop the drilling! Stop the oil!

Er… I mean, “More K9 Kamp! More K9 Kamp!”

Anyway, it’s with a heavy heart that I write about the last week of K9 Kamp. The final challenge required me to exercise (wordplay!) some independent judgment (not my strong suit) and choose what to do with Bella this week. That’s right – it was Kamper’s Choice! (I initially typed that Khoice… oops.) Read on to find out how we did.

#K9Kamp: Having a ball… with rope

It’s time for another K9 Kamp update. Today, we’re talking about the second challenge, which was named (drum roll, please)… Play with Your Balls. (In case you’re not as amused as I am – which would make me question our friendship – perhaps the fact that I received an email beginning with “How’d you all do playing with your balls?” yesterday will do the trick. Best email ever.)

Anyway, as you know, Bella and I have been battling against various health issues during this year’s K9 Kamp. (We’re still on the DL, but we’re on the mend.) This week, we also had an additional challenge – the fact that Bella will not play with balls. I guess she doesn’t get the joke.

Why I’m returning to K9 Kamp

I participated as a featured blogger in the inaugural K9 Kamp last year, and had a great time. Needless to say, I was thrilled when Peggy & Jodi asked me to participate again! (In preparation for this year’s event, I revisited my posts from last year – and now I can’t stop singing “shopping is our greatest thrill” from Troop Beverly Hills. You’ve been warned.)

What is K9 Kamp, you might ask? It’s a series of fitness challenged designed to encourage you to get fit while spending time with your dog. Our fearless leaders/Kamp counselors are Peggy and Jodi from Peggy’s Pet Place and Kol’s Notes, respectively. Read on to find out why I’m participating, and how you can join us!
