Meet the Bloggers: Hello, my name is Dog Crazy

Meet the Pet Bloggers Hop

Hello, my name is Dog Crazy. (It’s a pretty common name, actually. Even the Queen is a crazy dog lady. For real. She’s one of us.)

And you are?

Grab a cocktail, pull up a patch of the Interwebz, and tell me about yourself. It’s all part of the Meet the Bloggers blog hop – and you’re invited!

(If you’re just learning about the hop today, it’s not too late to join. Click here to find the how and the why behind today’s hop.)

Today, we’re challenging bloggers to share a photo of the human behind the blog and answer at least five questions so that we can get to know each other a little better. (It’s the rare party where everyone’s cool and welcoming. No judgy bears or grumpy Georges allowed. Embrace the blog love.)

All too often, those of us behind the camera forget to step in front of it… or hate the way we look in photos… or have any number of reasons we’re not in the picture. Whatever the reason, that’s a darn shame. Whether you share them publicly or just keep them to yourself, having photos of yourself with the ones you love (both furry and human) is something to treasure.

(Also, I have no doubt that each and every one of you is totally awesome – so if you hate how you look in photos, cut yourself some slack. Constantly judging yourself is basically like having an in-house Simon Cowell making you feel crappy every day. What fun is that?)

As you will see, this post is sprinkled with photos. While drafting this post, I realized that I used to take a lot of photos with Bella. Somewhere along the way,  I fell out of the habit. I’m terrible about taking photos with Tavish – I found one. Preparing for this hop has given me a new goal – to take more photos with my puppy loves.

Also, I have decided to go completely nuts and answer all of the questions instead of just five. I’m a glutton for punishment.

Let’s get to it:

    • What’s your favorite non-animal related book? Man, these are tough! I love books (and talking about books) almost as much as I love dogs, so there are quite a few in the running for this prize. Today, I’ll go with Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. I’m barely resisting the urge to post an insanely long list right now.
    • What’s your favorite non-animal related movie? Crap. I love movies as much as I love television, which I love almost as much as I love books (although ruling out animal movies does help). For years, my standard answer was Chasing Amy. I think I’ll stick with that for now, although When Harry Met Sally and Dirty Dancing are giving it a run for its money.

      Selfies with Tavish are hard.

    • What’s your favorite non-animal related food? Darn. I love food too. (As you can see, I have a lot of love to give.) My answer would probably be grilled cheese, but is that “animal-related” due to the dairy? If so, I’ll go with hushpuppies. Hmmm… although not technically animal-related, it does have puppies in the title. This is hard. (In any event, when it comes to my favorite foods, comfort food always wins.)
    • Who’s your favorite actor? Seriously, these questions are killing me. I have an overabundance of favorites. That being said… call me, you two. Also, you two. And you two. (I’ll stop now.)

      Tavish selfie via wantmorepuppies.com

      Like really hard.

    • What’s one thing you have to do every day? Much like Santa and other Type-A individuals everywhere, I update my to do list and check it twice.
    • What makes you feel fabulous? Sitting on the lawn at my favorite concert venue with wine, cheese, and a good friend or two.
    • What do you wish you were more skilled at? Walking. I trip a lot. (I’m going for brutally honest here, folks.)
    • What’s your favorite holiday? It’s always been Christmas, although I’m having trouble finding my holiday spirit this year. I’m working on it though.

      Tavish selfie via wantmorepuppies.com

That’s about the best we’re going to get.

    • Favorite meal? Honestly? Bring me grilled cheese and tomato soup and I’m content. I would also accept gnocchi. Or pie.
    • What do you like to do in your free time? Spend time with my friends and loved ones… while taking lots of photos. I’m kind of a shutterbug/extrovert hybrid.
    • What one word would people who know you use to describe you? Welcoming.
    • If your pets could talk, what one word would THEY use to describe you? Goofy.

      Bella snow day via wantmorepuppies.com

Bella was not in the mood for selfies this week.

    • What is one thing you’ve done that you’re most proud of? Getting an education. (Legally Blonde isn’t just a movie – it’s my life. Sort of.)
    • How is your pet most like you? Bella and I both love to sleep. Tavish and I share a passion for dancing around the house like idiots.
    • What can your body do for you that makes you most proud? I’ve got a pretty big crush on my brain, actually, but I don’t know if that’s what we’re going for here.
    • If you could change one thing about your life what would it be? To still have my mom here with me. (Sorry for the Debbie Downer moment, y’all.)
So I'm cheating...

So I’m cheating…

  • Other than blogging, what are three things you do that bring you joy? (1) Snapping photos of everything under the sun (and moon); (2) Baking, especially trying new recipes; and (3) making numbered lists. Okay, I’m kidding on that last one. (Well, not really.) I also get joy from making plans to spend time with the VIFs (Very Important Friends) in my life.
  • What’s one thing you could do to be more kind to yourself? Stop the self-criticism. (Ladies of Earth, you are awesome as you are. Don’t shrink. Take up space. Kick some ass.)

    Modest Bella via wantmorepuppies.com

The Bella snapshots are from my archives.

  • What drives you nuts about your pets? Bella seems to think that she’s a canine Houdini (Houndini?) and always seems to be plotting an escape attempt. Tavish barks every single time the front door opens. (We’re going to work on it.)
  • What melts your heart? Being greeted by my canine welcoming committee.
  • If you didn’t have your current pets, what pets would you choose to have? Don’t tell Tavish, but… a cat. Inside this crazy dog lady lurks a crazy cat lady. Odds are, I’m just crazy in general. I’m okay with that.

The Meet the Bloggers blog hop is co-hosted by I Still Want More Puppies, Go Pet Friendly, Kol’s Notes,Life With Desmond, No Dog About It Blog, The Daily Dog Blog, My Brown Newfies,CindyLu’s Muse, Bringing Up Bella, Heart Like A Dog, Rescued Insanity, Peggy’s Pet Place, and NEPA Pets. 1. Well, look how adorable you are! Now I’ll know what you look like if you ever trip over me.

So glad you answered them all. I was tempted to, but was already too wordy on the ones I did answer. I also could have gone on and on about the books. And I skipped the movie question because it was too hard to pick one. (although if pressed I would say Charade.)

Glad you guys thought of this! Fun to learn more about everybody!

  2. I want to be BFFs with all of the celebrity pairs you mention!
My friend and I grabbed some Christmas lattes and drove around looking at Christmas lights in our city the other day – it was a surefire way to get in the spirit – I highly recommend it! And I was surprised that quite a few folks in our city do that time-lights-to-music thing. Love it!
Bella is hilarious in that last picture, BTW!

    • That sounds like an excellent plan – perhaps there will be Christmas light in my near future.

Ah, that photo was back in the days when Bella was more snuggly… she’s so grouchy now. 😉

    • We totally need to make it happen. 🙂

Last week, I managed to fall down the stairs and jack up my elbow, though it turned out to be just a bad bruise, thank goodness. I’m sorry to hear about your kneecap – ouch! I hope you feel better soon.

  3. LOL – we sure do have a bunch of klutzes among us. (Says she who’s still rocking the black eye she received this weekend from walking into a a tree. 😉

So much good stuff in this post but OMGOMGOMG how did I forget grilled cheese and tomato soup!?!?!!?! Heaven!

And I love that you and Tavish like to dance around the house. I like to do so as well but Bella is not amused by such frivolous behavior. Enjoy your dancing partner. (And all your pictures are adorable!)

  4. OMG…grilled cheese and tomato soup is my absolute not favorite food! Actually, it is just the tomato soup. Makes me gag. I’ll take a grilled chesse any time though (hold the mayo…do you put mayo on yours? I was NOT raised that way).

The wish about your Mom would be mine too…and My Grandma (her Mom) who passed away suddenly two years ago.

  5. Wow, what a great turnout for this! It’s going to take me a while to learn more about everyone, and meet some new people too. I love your answers. Everyone is making me hungry though….grilled cheese and tomato soup…..love it. It’s fun to learn about everyone, and also to see things we might have in common. Like I trip a lot too, and write lots of lists and check them twice….well, many times.

  6. Hi. My name is Susan and I’m addicted to…puppies. And kitties to be honest. I have 3 dogs and 4 cats and my daughter told me she’d call an Intervention if I brought home any more. Your pups are adorable. And BTW, I love grilled cheese, too. Best comfort food ever. Nice to meet you through the Meet the Blogger blog hop. I’ll be following on future posts.

  7. You are so much fun, and I love that you said your friends would describe you as welcoming. That’s really a nice thing to be. Thank you so much for co-hosting this hop. It’s great to meet the humans behind the blogs.

  8. This was a great “meet the bloggers” post. I’ve only read a few so far, but I’m really enjoying them, and this was such a great idea for a hop. 🙂 I’m all for comfort food, and anything with cheese. Heck, I’m all for food in general…but I gotta give you a lot of credit for baking. Too much precision for me, I’m a “throw it all in one pot” type of cook.

Um, as for your secret desire to have a cat, I have one or two extras floating around…

  9. I love your sense of humor. “No judgy bears or grumpy Georges allowed.” LOL!

I actually feel like I learned a little more about you today. Thank you for answering all the questions and not leaving me blowing in the wind as the only one. (I could have been in bed sooner if I had stuck to 5 last night!).

I also love grilled cheese and tomato soup. About a month ago I ran into a dog park friend and he said he was heading home to have a grilled cheese and tomato soup – I actually had it for a week after that. Yum!

I am envious of all the great concerts and shows you go to. It must be fun to see that many great acts. I need to come to DC some time.

Loved the pics AJ. You are so beautiful – inside and out.

Is there any greater joy than crossing something off your to-do list? I know there sin’t for me. 🙂

  10. Love me some grilled cheese and tomato soup! To- do lists? Love them too – nothing better than crossing things off! I SO enjoyed all of the pictures of you with your sweet pups – best blog hop EVER!

  11. I missed all the fun all day!!! AMAZING POST, especially the exhortation to love ourselves as we are!

Do you do mushroom melts (grilled cheese with sauteed mushrooms)? I have an amazing from-scratch tomato soup recipe, but when I use canned, I put alphabet pasta in and either Parmesan or cheddar cheese. Two out of three kids will eat it!
one person’s view recently posted..Meet the Blogger

    • Thanks, lady!

I’ve never really done the mushroom melts at home (although I’ve had them elsewhere). My common topping at home is to add a few dill pickles to the mix (or sometimes a tomato), but I often just eat them plain.

I feel like I need to get this soup recipe from you… 🙂

    • I should have probably made that lists plural instead… on my phone I currently have 13 different lists going in my list app. I maaaaay go a little overboard. 😉

And I agree – the small things in life are the ones that often make the biggest impact.

  12. Nice to meet you! 🙂

Mmmm. Grilled cheese. I haven’t had a grilled cheese sandwich in a long time. I live too far away from this cafe I used to buy them. Making one myself comes out okay, but not nearly as good.

In regards to what you said about numbered lists bringing you joy, it’s more fun making detailed lists than it is to actually do all those things on the list.

  13. “I have a lot of love to give”. That’s exactly how I see you – so filled with love that you can enjoy pretty much anything you’re doing and any situation. I admire how wholeheartedly you love things – especially since they’re usually the same things I live. (Last breakfast, I gave you my heart and the very next day…you gave it away. This year, to save me from tears, I’ll breakfast with someone special <3 My family is not impressed with this at all)
