Today, I have a special treat for you. My friend Peggy Frezon, the author of Dieting with My Dog, is back with a new book. Today, this blog is the next stop on her virtual book tour. Welcome to the Fun & Furry, Fit & Healthy Blog Tour!

I had the chance to ask Peggy a few questions about her new book. While composing the questions, I was engaged in a bout of stress eating (unrelated to that activity). I guess that’s somewhat appropriate. (Seriously folks… if stress eating is ever made into an Olympic event, I will win all the medals. In both the singles and team events. Sad but true.)

Perhaps Peggy – along with her dogs Kelly and Ike – can help me put down the cookies and pick up a leash or a dog toy instead!

Anyway… to the interview!Barking about books: The Dieting with My Dog Guide to Weight Loss and Maintenance

150 punny cat names… and counting

I was browsing the list of terms that bring people to this blog (as you do), and I realized that quite a few people are searching for punny cat names. I’ve shared several on the blog, but I’ve never compiled them into one post. Today, that changes.

Dear Cat Lover:

Thank you for visiting this blog in search of punny cat names, despite the puppy-focused title. Although I’m currently a crazy dog lady, my first loveĀ was a cat.Ā I still consider myself one of you. Honestly, a more accurate title for this blog would be “I Still Want More Puppies and a Cat or Two, But My Dogs Would Chase Them so I Can’t Actually Have a Cat.” Catchy, right? I totally should have gone with that one.

someecards.com - There's nothing like watching cat videos to help me pass the time until I can see my cat again.
… or to fill that cat-sized hole in my heart.

I tend to make a lot of puns. One might even say that I make a lot of bad puns. However, if even one of those puns can bring joy to your life – or a punny name to a feline in search of an identity – then all of this punning will be worth it.

Over the years, I’ve shared several punny cat names on this blog. Although last year I shared a list of punny names to date, it wasn’t cat-specific. So, in order to make your life easier, I’ve compiled them all into one comprehensive list below.150 punny cat names… and counting

Follow-Up Friday: Hide your kids, hide your dogs edition

I’ve got something a little different for you today. Instead of my usual No Frown Friday, I’m changing things up a bit. (However, I may still have some linky goodness in store for you in the near future.)

This week, I have the pleasure of co-hosting Heart Like a Dog‘s Follow-Up Friday. It’s the blog hop that lets you wrap up your week and leads you right into the weekend.

Let’s get to it! We’ll start with some quick hits on my posts this week, and then end with the great comments I received about whether you have to choose between having a dog or having kids. That post led to quite a bit of discussion!

Do you have to choose between having a dog and having kids?

No.

*declares post complete, closes laptop, goes to the kitchen, eats a cookie in celebration of a job well done, eats a second cookie in celebration of how good that first cookie was, reconsiders answer, returns to computer*

Here’s the thing. The answer is really that simple… and yet, it’s not. All at the same time. Allow me to explain.

I don’t believe that “you” (in the broadest sense) have to choose between kids and dogs. I don’t think it’s a zero sum game. At the same time, do “you” (in the narrowest possible sense) have to choose between kids and dogs? I can’t answer that one. However, I have thoughts. Lots of them.Do you have to choose between having a dog and having kids?

Spam comments I have known, loved, and been confused by

Never underestimate the enjoyment you can get from occasionally reading your spam comments. I know – we’re all pretty busy, and it’s hard enough to find the energy to check to see if a real comment was mistakenly imprisoned in spam jail.

As some of our friends have demonstrated in the past, however, these comments can provide a needed chuckle. The extra effort is sometimes worth it.

There was once an extended time period during which a spammer (or two) kept leaving me spam comments in the form ofĀ Harry Potter quotes. For example:

ā€œI thought there was a Ministry of Magic?ā€ asked Vernon Dursley abruptly.”

I was so charmed that I almost approved all of those comments. Almost.

In any event, I miss them now. Come back, literary spammers!

I guess I’ll have to make do with this spam instead…Spam comments I have known, loved, and been confused by
